Why I am sharing my journey
The Tuesday after “the weekend” (see October, Blog 1) I couldn’t concentrate in class at college…so naturally I filled an entire page with doodles. Something that kept coming up in my doodles was the phrase “unexpected journey” which lead to this blog being created. And while the inclusion of Hobbits in my sub-heading was purely because of alliteration, the other three subtitles form the basis of this blog.
There are three main goals I have for creating this blog;
1) A way to “get out” of me what it is I am going through in this journey with Huntington ’s disease.
2) So family and friends can follow my journey and offer support.
3) To offer hope, support and congeniality for others who are travelling the same path as me.
My immediate family have given their blessing for me to write about this, but anybody else mentioned in the blog will be given anonymity unless expressed otherwise.
“Now it is a strange thing, but things that are good to have and days that are good to spend are soon told about, and not much to listen to; while things that are uncomfortable, palpitating, and even gruesome, may make a good tale, and take a deal of telling anyway.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
